It’s been a few weeks since our wedding day and time is flying by! I had a few messages from people asking where I purchased some items and details about suppliers, so I’m doing a quick post to answer a few queries.

I won’t keep boring you all with our wedding stuff but I will do a general wedding post from time to time in the future !

First things first!

My dress:

I loved it so much and I am so sad I will never wear it again. Of course it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I felt it really was me. This dress was from ESSENCE and I purchased in from Fashions by Farina in Sydney.

The accessories:

I bought all my accessories from Finesse Bridal in Listowel, Co.Kerry. I had a full length, two tier veil that was perfect with my dress. I never thought I would wear one but when I tried it I had to have it. I also wore a detailed hair band. Liz and Mags are amazing and go above and beyond! They are true professionals and if you are looking for a dress I urge you to visit here. They also arranged all my alterations and Made everything so easy.

Shoes:

I got my bad boys in Debenhams and they were so comfy. At 1.30am I kicked them off and put on a pair of gold glitter flatforms from Penny’s. Yes, they were very tacky, but they worked, and I got to dance until 3am in them. Unfortunately I didn’t take any pics of my shoes but they were a pointed toe Ivory shoe with a gold trim and a medium heel.

Bridesmaid dresses:

This was hard as two of my girls were in Ireland, another in Sydney and one in London! My sister in London found dresses with matching jackets in a high street store. I wanted something purple or pink to match the belt on my dress and I wanted a shorter style. Everyone agreed they liked them so we took a gamble. I wasn’t mad on the jackets at first but when the girls were all dressed I thought they looked great and were a little bit different. They also kept them warm for photos outside! I picked up their chains from a store in Sydney called Forever New. My twin sister, who was my maid of honour, wore purple pearls instead and their shoes were gold glitter heels (naturally!) from Debenhams also.

Make up:

The beautiful Annette O Brien did make up for all the bridal party. Annette is breath taking. She is such a kind person and so talented. Make up did not budge all day and she is truly amazing at what she does. She books out months in advance so enquire early!

We ❤️ Annette

Hair:

Our fab friend Mary Maguire did all our hair. It was so great having someone that knows us all. She knows our style and what we do and don’t like. She was so much fun on the morning and kept us all laughing. An absolute gem and we couldn’t have asked for a better stylist on the day.

Tan:

You all now how much I love my Cocoa brown tan and this is what we wore, including my Mom. None of us wanted that over done tan and the dark version was ideal. I applied mine two nights before wedding and did one more application the night before. It was the perfect tan for the day and I had heaps of people asking what it was.

Our favourite

Nails:

I was so lucky to get a mauve colour that was the same colour as my belt! I couldn’t believe my luck. Elaine at Top to toe beauty applied the Gelish manicure a few days before the wedding and it was one of the best manicures I have had. It lasted over three weeks and didn’t chip once.

Flowers:

Oh the flowers! Possibly the best accessory I had. My bouquet was exquisite. Flowers by Sheila in Castleisland were superb! Sheila got the prefect mixture of purple and mauve roses (again working off my sash). How she matched it so perfectly is amazing. A pleasure to deal with and all other flowers and decorations in church were perfect.

Photographer:

Kevin Murphy Photography did our photos. What a gentleman. He really is so talented and has the wonderful ability to keep you calm. It’s not easy stand there and get pictures taken, but you don’t even realise he is there. He is also a lot of fun and has a great sense of humour. I popped a button on my dress the morning of the wedding (don’t drink bulmers and eat tayto sambos the night before your big day! ). Naturally there was serious panic for ten minutes until we fixed it and Kevin was so calm. Another man would have gone running from the house! He is brilliant and if anyone is looking for a photographer, give him a call.

Cake:

Maloneys in Castleisland created the perfect two tier cake for us- one layer lemon sponge and the next their delicious chocolate biscuit cake. Pearl detailing and a beautiful bow finished it off and it was just what we wanted. They really do make the yummiest cakes.

Yummy

Venue:

Finally, our venue was The Killarney Plaza, Co. Kerry. Everything ran so smoothly and on time on the day. There was no detail left out and the managers were a pleasure to deal with. Planning a wedding overseas can be stressful and they really made it easy. They had so much patience with us and ensured everything was perfect on the day.

Band:

Bluemoose rocked out the tunes for the night. They had the floor full and really mixed up the music. My feet ached from dancing and I had so much fun. They played songs to suit all age groups and I couldn’t have asked for a better band.

KC extreme, Kevin Culloty, finished the night DJing and even threw in the Macarana and the Venga boys! What a laugh and a fantastic way to finish the night.

Printing:

Listowel printing works did so much for us! We had our invites, church booklets, posters, betting slips and a backdrop done here. What really worked was that everything was done in the same theme and layout. I wanted betting slips for a fun table game for the speeches and they did it. They also made a large backdrop for taking pictures with a selfie stick and it worked really well. Again, they had so much patience with us and went above and beyond. True professionals.

I think that should be most questions answered! If I can help any of you future brides let me know!

Down the line I might do a post on do’s and don’ts for the big day. It’s such an amazing time and there are so many emotions before, during and after! I was so grateful to have people to talk to who had previously had a wedding and it’s great to talk through it all after to process everything.

Let me know if this is something you would like!
